Method 55

Ethyl 2-Cyanoacrylate (ECA) and Methyl 2-Cyanoacrylate (MCA)

This method describes the sample collection and analysis of ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate and methyl 2-cyanoacrylate. Samples are collected by drawing a known volume of air through phosphoric acid-treated XAD-7 sampling tubes. Following desorption with 2 mL of 0.2% (v/v) phosphoric acid in acetonitrile, the samples are analyzed by high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection.
