Method 200.7 WaterMetals and Trace Elements by ICP/Atomic Emission SpectrometryThis method is for the determination of dissolved elements in water, wastewater, and solid wastes. It can be used for the determination of dissolved or total recoverable elements. 20mL of sample is solubilized with nitric and hydrochloric acids and analyzed by ICP/AES (inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry). The sample is filtered first for the determination of dissolved elements. The sample is not filtered when determining total recoverable elements. Aqueous samples containing suspended or particulate material ≥ 1% (w/v) should be extracted as a solid type sample. When determining boron or silica, only plastic, PTFE or quartz labware should be used from the time of sample collection to analysis. This method is approved for use in compliance monitoring programs (e.g.: Clean Water Act (NPDES) or Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)). (EPA/600/R-94/111)
* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample. |
