Method 8310 Solids

Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons

This method is for the determination of poly-nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) at ppb (part per billion) levels in soil, solid and waste samples.  The sample is extracted at a neutral pH using methylene chloride by separatory funnel (Method 3510C) or by ultrasonic extraction (Method 3550C), concentrated and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography wiht ultraviolet detection (HPLC/UV).

A silica gel column cleanup following Method 3630 can be used to remove any sample matrix interferences.

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
