Method 5508

Kepone

This method is for the determination of kepone. The sample is collected on mixed cellulose ester membrane filters connected to an impinger containing 15mL of 0.1M NaOH. The sample is recovered from the filter with 99:1 benzene:methanol, 10 mL and allowed to stand for 2 hours; sample is recovered from impinger with two 5-mL portions of benzene @ pH <7 followed by GC analysis with electrolytic conductivity detection. The working range is 0.001 to 25 mg/m³ for 50-L air samples. Personal and area samples were collected by this method at a Mirex formulation plant. Note: This method was originally designated P&CAM 225.
