Method ID-215

Hexavalent chromium

This method is for the collection and analysis of hexavalent chromium from workplace air.  The sample is collected on a NaOH coated binderless quart fiber filter or PVC filter.  After sample collection the filter is extracted with 10% Na2CO3/2% NaHCO3 (BE) and phosphate buffer/magnesium sulfate (PBM) solutions (BE/PBM) and analyzed by ion chromatography (IC) with UV-vis detection after post column derivatization with 1,5-diphenyl carbazide.
