Method 7
Organic Vapors
This method is for the collection and analysis of organic vapors. The organic vapors validate for the method are listed in the table below. The sample is collected on a coconut shell charcoal tube. After collection, the sample is desorbed with an organic solvent. Carbon disulfide is the most common desorption solvent but other solvents can be used if it's more appropriate for the target analyte. The samples are analyzed using GC/FID (flame ionization detector). The adsorptive capacity of the collection tube is decreased by high humidity. Certain analytes require the use of a petroleum base charcoal instead of coconut base charcoal.

* The analytes and detection limits listed for each method represent the typical detection limits and analytes reported for that particular method. Keep in mind that analyte lists may vary from laboratory to laboratory. Detection limits may also vary from lab to lab and are dependent upon the sample size, matrix, and any interferences that may be present in the sample.
