Method SM 5310B

Total Organic Carbon (TOC)

This method is for the determination of total organic carbon (TOC) fromw ater and wastewater by a high-temperature combustion method.  The sample is acidfied and purged to remove inorganic carbon.  The sample is then injected into a high-temperature TOC analyzer.  The samples are combusted at ~ 1350o C in an oxygen rich atmosphere.  The carbon is converted to carbon dioxide and measured.
