Method 5003

Paraquat

This method is for the determination of paraquat from workplace air. The sample is collected on 1µm pore size PTFE filter membrane. After collection the sample is desorbed in 5mL deionized water and analyzed by HPLC with a UV detector. The working range of the method is 0.1 to 10 mg/m³ for a 200-L air sample. The paraquat dichloride or bismethyl sulfate salt can be quantitated by this method. The standards are prepared from a solution of the dichloride salt with appropriate stoichiometric factor applied. Note: This method revises Method S294.
